Why Vitamin C is Important
Vitamin C, also known as ascorbic acid assists both the innate and adoptive immune system. It supports the growth and repair of body tissue, helps the body’s formation of collagen, assist the skin in healing wounds faster. Vitamin C helps the immune system by supporting white blood cells allowing them to function more effectively. Specifically, Vitamin C helps encourage the production of lymphocytes (T Cells), which help protect the body against infection.
Your body does not naturally produce Vitamin C and it can only be obtained through diet and supplementation. Vitamin C also acts as an antioxidant and protects the body against damage caused by the oxidative process (free radicals).
